International Help on Re-build
(Thanks to National Geography Magazine’s reporter Kevin Holden Platt’s kind suggestion of asking me to write the following message)
To the friends from outside of China who wants to help on re-construction after the earthquake:
The government has state-owned urban planning institutions already dispatched to Sichuan for the planning of the new towns and villages which were destroyed during the earthquake. Their timetable is extremely tight. According to Chinese newspaper, they are planning to finish all the master plans in 3 months and re-build them in 3 years. But we know this fast planning without careful investigation in such short amount of time could course second manmade tragedy. We need to tell the government what we know and proof we are right. We would like to listen to your ideas - experts from all over the world with experiences in the re-construction after earthquake. We settled a wiki platform and would willing to gather ideas and link sources from overseas almost about everything on the re-construction.
The link of the wiki (soon will be in Chinese-English bilingual) is http://www.retumu.com/
You are welcome to contribute your thoughts to the site!
Another architect Liu Jiakun in Sichuan also set up a blog (in Chinese) wenchuan512.blogbus.com which now has many on-going information about the re-construction news.
We are still working on group the architects, urban planners, engineers, scientists, developers, investors, builders, material suppliers, media, volunteers and government decision makers together and setup an common platform to exchange ideas, share information and sources, hold conference, setup onsite workshops, provide basic training, etc. wiki might be a good virtual way of this platform. So let’s keep working on it together!
Thank you!
